Somehow she had made it here, far away from the lies and confusion that she had dealt with in New York, away from him. It was silly really, how she had given up her life in New Orleans for some silly guy that had a smooth tongue and a bit of money in his wallet. `I should have taken some of that money before I left,` she thought to herself, sighing softly as she sipped at the glass of water. Here she was, in some random club, eating bar nuts and sipping on water. Luckily, it was just busy enough that she wasn’t given much notice, but crowded to the point where she could hardly stand being there. Not that she had anywhere else to go.
Her cerulean gaze had scanned the crowd many a time, making sure that he hadn’t followed her yet again. Ethan had proven himself a monster in the end, but fortunately for her he didn’t seem to be a persistent one. A smile suddenly broke out, the corners of her lips pulling up. Ana might have been broken and a little beaten, but she was still alive. And that was cause enough for celebration, wasn’t it?
Upon popping another peanut in her mouth, the young woman pondered how exactly she was going to get the rest of the way home. There was one of two options – she could either play the nice, confused girl card and hope that someone would take pity upon her, or she could take matters into her own hands and pocket someone else’s wallet. The second option would definitely be more risky, considering that the barkeeper was already suspicious at how long she had stayed at the bar, merely sipping on water and snacking. But truly, how many people would take pity on a girl such as herself?
Ana scoffed at such thoughts, finally pushing away from the bar and joining the people dancing. She just had to find someone drunk enough, someone who wouldn’t think twice about accusing a wide eyed, seemingly innocent girl such as herself. `God help me that I don’t make a fool out of myself,` she thought, letting her hips sway side to side with the rhythm of the music while her gaze focused on those that surrounded her. She just had to relax and trust that everything would be alright.
